cleaning green.

You know why I kinda, almost, like, cleaning? Because it means that I actually have a (rare) spare moment at home.

Over the last few months my Costco "family size" cleaning supplies have finally come to an end and I have been trying to replace everything with simpler/green products. I know my inner hippie is coming out, but making small changes will eventually lead to big things (compare to your workout.) Not to mention "green" products smell really good and don't trash your skin. WIN.

Simple things to switch

counter cleaner

recycled paper products

laundry soap

those little dishwasher packets

hand soap

washable rags instead of paper towels

choosing the "eco cycle"

recycling :)

Starting a compost pile might be a little much for me now, but baby steps right

BTW I never have leftovers...I swim.

Easy to make all purpose cleaner!

Mix 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda (or 2 teaspoons borax) into 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water. Store and keep.

No joke, this was my horoscope 2 days ago...HAHA.

"Have you resolved to give your house a thorough cleaning? You may have gone to the store and bought every conceivable type of cleaner. You're determined not to quit until the house is spotless. Use natural cleaners if possible. Chemical substances could seem especially harsh today. Second, don't try to do it all now. Take care of the worst and then leave the rest for tomorrow."

bathroom essentials

Just in case you're a snooper, I'll save you the trouble of looking in my medicine cabinet and just show you myself...

I love a good chapstick, lip gloss, lipstick, or lip stain (yes boys, they are all different.) I swear I apply lip balm 10x a day, even before I swim. Maybe a nervous habit? Anyways, here are some of my favorites, I don't really have one I like more than the other, it's mostly what I feel like at the moment.

My makeup bags are now part of my decor. I never put them away because I'm constantly traveling, so there really isn't a point.

Andd there is nothing like good makeup brushes and a good candle....just FYI.

Just incase I want to go swimming in my shower, I have an abundance of suits ready to go.

It's my bathroom, of course there are quotes.

Confession, I'm a bit of a product junkie. I'm seriously a makeup consultant's dream customer. I'm always searching for that perfect product. Here is what I'm currently using this week. I try to use products that are as natural as possible (stereotypical Berkeley kid.)

SPF is a must. And my swear by oils: Argan oil as a face serum, Moroccan oil for my hair.

And just as a ps: there is nothing better than walking around the house in a pair of (rare) matching socks.

product junkie gets recycled.

First step. Check. I have admitted I am a PRODUCT JUNKIE. Step two, take action. So, if I can't fix my little problem I might as well make the best of it. Thus, I recycle :) I LUV Mac makeup, Kiehl's lip balm, and Orign's face wash. Being a loyal customer I have learned to reap the benefits. Recycling is not only good for the planet, it's good for me!

MAC (not the computer): If you bring in 6 containers of anything MAC you get a free lipstick! 6 seems like a lot, but if you apply lipstick as often as my mother, it's not hard to do!

KIEHL'S: So 3 empty bottles/products gets you a free lip balm (ps: this stuff is the best stuff ever), 5 gets you a travel size item! They even said that they will keep a tally in the store, so no need to bring it all in at once!

ORIGINS: Every time you bring in an empty container, you get a free sample! Whoohooo!

RENEW, REUSE, RECYCLE: the beautiful way!

Do you know of other cosmetic companies that recycle?!
